Your Frustrating Symptoms Are Good For You

Symptoms are cues from our body that something is “off” and needs our attention.

  •  We might be missing important nutrients from our diet, burning through them too quickly, or not absorbing them properly.
  •  One or more of our organs or body systems might be dysregulated, causing a trickle-down effect in other systems.
  •  We might be fighting a hidden infection in our gut, mouth, or nasal passages.
  •  Our body’s toxin bucket might be overflowing from exposures to chemical toxins or biotoxins like mold.

 Can you see now how our symptoms are a GOOD thing!

 If we didn’t have symptoms, we wouldn’t know we had a problem going on inside our body.

 Speaking of problems...

Our bigger program right now is that when our symptoms start to interfere with the quality of our life and we go looking for answers from our health care providers, we often find that all our lab markers and screenings come back “normal”.

 Then we are left without answers and are simply told we should get more sleep, lose some weight, pop some tums, and reduce our stress.

 These are all great suggestions (minus the tums, I’ll tell you why in a future newsletter) but…

 HOW do I do these in a way that will successfully reduce my symptoms.

  •  I try to lose weight but even when I exercise and eat healthy, the scale doesn’t budge.
  •  I’m in bed for 8-9 hours every night but I wake for 2 hours in the middle and/or I sleep right through but still wake up feeling unrested.
  •  I try to reduce my stress with meditation, outdoor walks, and a hot bath but I probably don’t know about those underlying stressors like toxins, hidden infections, mold, or food sensitivities that my body is battling every day.

You see, it can all feel overwhelming and hard to do when you’re not getting the support you need to implement the practices.

And more importantly, when we don’t take a deeper look at what our symptoms are trying to tell us, we aren’t getting to the root cause of our health issues.

When we don’t get to the root cause, our problem doesn’t go away. It continues to cause nutrient depletion and dysfunction in our body.  Long-term, it can become an even bigger problem.

Let’s look at an example of what our symptoms might be telling us.

Symptoms like belching, bloating or gas could be an indication of…

  •   Inability to properly digest and absorb our food due to low pancreatic enzymes, low stomach acid, or zinc insufficiency.
  •  Dysbiosis in the gut, either an overgrowth or undergrowth of bacteria, or the presence of pathogens or yeast.
  •   Food sensitivities or intolerances.
  •   Irregular bowel movements.
  •   Improper bile flow (which helps to digest your fats).

 

Your next question probably is… “So how do I know which of these is causing my issue?”
